UGA GPA Calculator
This UGA GPA calculator follows UGA’s own rules: no A+, D+ or D-, both grades counted when you retake a class, and every GPA truncated at two decimals. Not at UGA? Our college GPA calculator with current GPA works for any school.
Free to use, no sign-up, and every calculation happens in your browser. Not affiliated with the University of Georgia.
Enter this term’s UGA courses with their hours and grades, and mark any approved STEM course for HOPE. Add your UGA record so far, transfer work and HOPE GPA to see your cumulative and overall GPAs, your standing, the honor lists, Latin honors and your HOPE GPA.
Athena shows your UGA cumulative GPA and the GPA hours behind it; total grade points give the exact result. Transfer work stays out of your UGA GPA, so add it above for your overall GPA. Leave the record blank to work out this term alone.
A 3.27 UGA cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher, so you are in good academic standing.
- Grade points: 48.7 this term, 193.15 in total
- GPA hours: 14 this term, 59 in total
Presidential Scholar: not this term. It has a 3.47 GPA (under 4.00). UGA asks for a 4.00 semester GPA with no I or U grades, on at least 14 earned hours numbered 1000 or above (9 in summer).
Dean’s List: not this term. It has a 3.47 GPA (under 3.50). UGA asks for a 3.50 semester GPA with no grade below a B and no I or U grades, on at least 14 earned hours numbered 1000 or above (9 in summer).
Latin honors: Cum laude starts at 3.60. Your overall GPA is 3.27.
HOPE GPA: 3.22 with this term, on 59 attempted hours, which meets the 3.00 HOPE line but not the 3.30 Zell Miller line. Your next hours checkpoint is at 60 attempted hours; the end of each spring term is a checkpoint too. This weights your HOPE GPA so far by its attempted hours, so earlier W or I hours make it a little less exact; GAfutures shows the official figure.
Plan ahead: to reach a 3.35 UGA cumulative GPA, you need at least a 3.65 next term on 15 hours.
What each course adds
| Course | Hours | Grade | Grade points | In GPA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| English Composition I | 3 | A- | 11.1 | Yes |
| Calculus I | 4 | B | 12 | Yes; STEM: +0.50 in your HOPE GPA |
| Principles of Biology I | 3 | B+ | 9.9 | Yes |
| American Government | 3 | A | 12 | Yes |
| Biology Lab | 1 | A- | 3.7 | Yes |

UGA’s grading scale: no A+, D+ or D-
The University of Georgia’s 4.0 scale has plus and minus steps, but they stop at both ends. There’s no A+, so a plain A at 4.00 is as high as a grade goes, and below a C- there’s only a D and an F. The UGA GPA scale below comes from UGA’s grading policy (01.04.020), which sets the grade points each letter earns per credit hour:
| Grade | Grade points per hour | How the Registrar describes it |
|---|---|---|
| A | 4.00 | Excellent |
| A- | 3.70 | Excellent |
| B+ | 3.30 | Good |
| B | 3.00 | Good |
| B- | 2.70 | Good |
| C+ | 2.30 | Satisfactory |
| C | 2.00 | Satisfactory |
| C- | 1.70 | Satisfactory, but it won’t meet a “C or better” requirement |
| D | 1.00 | Passing |
| F | 0.00 | Failure |
The C- line trips people up. It passes the course and adds 1.70 grade points per hour to your GPA, but a major or prerequisite that asks for a C (2.0) or better won’t accept it.
Marks that stay out of your UGA GPA
Any symbol that isn’t a letter grade carries no grade points, and its hours stay out of the GPA. Some of them still matter elsewhere, mostly for HOPE.
| Mark | What it means | HOPE attempted hours? |
|---|---|---|
| S | Satisfactory in a course graded S/U; you earn the hours | Yes |
| U | Unsatisfactory; no credit | Yes |
| W | Withdrew from the course | Yes |
| I | Incomplete. Left unfinished for three semesters, with summer counted as one, it turns into an F (or a U in an S/U course) | Yes |
| V | Audit; no credit | No |
| K | Credit by examination, such as AP, IB or a proficiency exam | No |
| NR | Grade not received by the Registrar yet | Yes |
| NG | No grade reported by the instructor yet | Yes |
| WM | Military withdrawal after an involuntary call to active duty | Georgia’s HOPE rules protect students called to emergency military duty |
Is there a UGA grading scale in percentages?
No. UGA’s grading policy assigns grade points to letters and stops there. Whether an 89.5 is an A- or a B+ depends on the cut-offs in your course syllabus, so two classes can turn the same percentage into different letters. Once the letter is on your record, the table above decides what it’s worth.
How UGA calculates your GPA
Your grade point average (GPA) is the grade points you earned divided by the credit hours you attempted for a letter grade. Each course adds its hours times its grade points, and the total is divided by the hours of every letter-graded course you took. Hours with an S, U, W, I, V, K, NR, NG or WM stay out of both totals.
Most calculators skip the last step of the GPA calculation: UGA truncates every GPA to two decimal points. The digits after the second decimal are dropped, not rounded.
A worked example: why 3.4785 is a 3.47
The calculator above opens with this fall semester filled in:
| Course | Hours | Grade | Grade points |
|---|---|---|---|
| English Composition I | 3 | A- | 11.1 |
| Calculus I | 4 | B | 12.0 |
| Principles of Biology I | 3 | B+ | 9.9 |
| American Government | 3 | A | 12.0 |
| Biology Lab | 1 | A- | 3.7 |
| Total | 14 | 48.7 |
48.7 ÷ 14 = 3.4785…, which UGA records as a 3.47. Rounding would have given 3.48. Neither reaches the 3.50 the Dean’s List needs, but the difference decides cases right at a line. A 3.4999 is a 3.49 at UGA, and a 1.999 is a 1.99, under the 2.00 for good standing.
The same student came in with a 3.21 GPA on 45 GPA hours, which is about 144.45 grade points. Add the semester’s 48.7 and divide by 59 hours: 193.15 ÷ 59 = 3.2737…, so the cumulative GPA is a 3.27. If you enter the exact grade points from your transcript instead of the GPA, the result is exact too.
Using the UGA GPA calculator
- Enter this term’s courses. Give each one its hours and grade. Marks such as W, S or I are in the “Not counted in the GPA” part of the grade menu. Set STEM (HOPE) to STEM only for a course on Georgia’s approved STEM list.
- Add your record so far (optional). Type your UGA GPA so far and your GPA hours so far, or your grade points so far for an exact cumulative. Add your transfer GPA hours and transfer GPA to see your overall GPA, and your HOPE GPA so far and HOPE attempted hours for the HOPE estimate.
- Set the term and your standing. Choose “Fall or spring” or “Summer” under “Term (for honors and standing)”, and the standing you start the term in under “Your standing now”.
- Read the results. They update automatically as you type. The four boxes show your term, UGA cumulative, overall and HOPE GPAs. Under them come your standing, the Presidential Scholar and Dean’s List checks, Latin honors and the HOPE checkpoint. “What each course adds” lists the grade points from every course.
- Plan the next term. Enter a target GPA (the UGA cumulative GPA you want) and your hours next term to see the term GPA it takes.
Cumulative vs overall GPA at UGA
UGA keeps two running GPAs, and they’re used for different decisions. Your cumulative GPA counts only courses taken in UGA residence. Your overall GPA adds every college-level course you took somewhere else, before or after you enrolled. HOPE uses neither of them: Georgia works out its own GPA from every course you attempted.
| GPA | What it includes | What UGA uses it for |
|---|---|---|
| Semester (term) GPA | Letter grades from one term | Presidential Scholar, the Dean’s List, the 2.25 test on probation, Early Alert |
| UGA cumulative GPA | Every letter grade earned at UGA | Academic standing and the 2.00 needed to graduate |
| Overall GPA | UGA grades plus college-level transfer work | Latin honors and First Honor Graduate |
| HOPE GPA | Every course attempted after high school, at any college, on whole letters with a STEM weight | HOPE and Zell Miller checkpoints |
That’s why a strong transfer record can lift your Latin honors without changing your standing, and why AP or IB credit (a K on your record) shows up in neither GPA.
Repeating a course: UGA has no grade replacement
A retake doesn’t wipe out the first grade. Under UGA’s repeat policy (01.04.024), the grade from every attempt goes into your UGA cumulative GPA, if it’s UGA credit, and into your overall GPA. You get the credit hours once, the highest grade is the one that satisfies degree requirements, and every attempt stays on your transcript marked as repeated.
In numbers: a D in a 3-hour course followed by a B gives 3 + 9 = 12 grade points on 6 hours. The course averages a 2.00 in your GPA, not the 3.00 a replacement policy would give. The calculator works the same way, so a retake goes in as one more row with its new grade.
Academic Renewal: the one fresh start
The only way to start your GPA over is Academic Renewal (policy 01.08.003), and it’s narrow:
- It’s for students who left UGA after academic trouble (probation or dismissal). You must have been away for five years, and it’s granted once in the University System of Georgia.
- You apply when you re-enroll, or within three semesters or one calendar year.
- A new Renewal GPA starts with your next courses and is used for academic standing and graduation.
- Earlier courses with a C- or better keep their credit but don’t enter the Renewal GPA; a D or F course has to be repeated if your degree requires it.
- For graduation honors, at least half of your degree work has to come after the renewal.
- Financial aid progress rules and program admission GPAs that use all coursework, such as teacher education and nursing, still see every grade.
Dean’s List and Presidential Scholar requirements
UGA names both lists for each school or college at the end of every semester, under policy 01.09.011. They’re separate: a 4.00 makes you a Presidential Scholar, and the Dean’s List is for everyone else at 3.50 or above.
| Requirement | Presidential Scholar | Dean’s List |
|---|---|---|
| Semester GPA | 4.00 | 3.50 or higher, if you aren’t a Presidential Scholar |
| Grades | No U and no I | No grade below a B, no U and no I |
| Hours | At least 14 earned hours numbered 1000 or above; 9 in summer | At least 14 earned hours numbered 1000 or above; 9 in summer |
“No grade below a B” means a B (3.0) is the floor, so a single B- keeps you off the list even with a 3.80 semester. S hours count as earned hours, and W hours don’t. Students approved for a Reduced Full Course Load through the Disability Resource Center are eligible once they complete that approved load. The calculator checks the GPA, the blocking grades and the hours, but it can’t see course numbers, so count only courses numbered 1000 or higher.
Latin honors at UGA: cum laude, magna and summa
Graduation honors use your overall GPA on all college-level work you attempted, which includes transfer work taken before or after you enrolled at UGA.
| Honor | Overall GPA | Tassel colors |
|---|---|---|
| Summa cum laude | 3.90 to 4.00 | Red, silver and black |
| Magna cum laude | 3.75 to 3.89 | Red and silver |
| Cum laude | 3.60 to 3.74 | Red and black |
These lines changed in fall 2018. Before that, magna cum laude started at 3.70 and cum laude at 3.50, and the old table still turns up online. A 3.55 earned cum laude under the old rules and earns nothing today.
A graduate with a 4.0 overall GPA is also named a First Honor Graduate and wears a braided cord, a fourragère, on the left shoulder at commencement.
Academic standing at UGA: warning, probation and suspension
Since fall 2022, UGA’s Connect & Complete policy (01.08.004) sets your standing from your UGA cumulative GPA at the end of each term. Good standing means a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher. What happens below 2.00 depends on where you started the term:
| You start the term in | Your UGA cumulative GPA ends | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Good standing | 2.00 or higher | Good standing. A term GPA under 2.00 brings an Early Alert, but your standing doesn’t change. |
| Good standing | Under 2.00 | Academic warning |
| Academic warning | Under 2.00 again | Academic probation |
| Academic probation, or probation after a suspension or dismissal | Under 2.00, with a term GPA of 2.25 or higher on at least 6 letter-graded hours (3 in summer) | You continue on probation |
| Academic probation | Under 2.00, and the term misses the 2.25 or the hours | Academic suspension for one fall or spring semester |
| Probation after a suspension or dismissal | Under 2.00, and the term misses the 2.25 or the hours | Academic dismissal for one calendar year |
Reaching a 2.00 cumulative GPA returns you to good standing from any of these. A few details decide close cases:
- W, V, I, S, U and NG grades don’t count toward the 6 hours, so the hours you need are letter-graded ones.
- Transfer credits aren’t in the UGA cumulative GPA, so they can’t lift you off probation.
- If you withdraw from every course, you aren’t given a new standing for that term.
- After a suspension, your school or college has to readmit you, and you return on probation. After a dismissal, you can return only through an appeal to the University Educational Affairs Committee.
- Schools and colleges can keep higher standards. Students enrolled in summer 2022 or earlier stay under the old rules, which asked for a 2.30 term average to continue on probation.
Your HOPE and Zell Miller GPA is a different number
The Georgia Student Finance Commission works out its own GPA for the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships, and it often differs from your UGA GPA. UGA’s financial aid office puts it plainly: UGA grades on a plus and minus scale, but the plusses and minuses don’t count for HOPE. An A or A- is 4.0, any B is 3.0, any C is 2.0, a D is 1.0 and an F is 0.
Since fall 2017, approved STEM courses get an extra 0.5 on a B, C or D, so a B in one of them counts 3.5, a C 2.5 and a D 1.5. An A stays at 4.0. The approved courses are listed in the STEM Weighted Course Directory on GAfutures. Like UGA, the Commission cuts the GPA to the hundredth instead of rounding it.
The example semester above shows the gap. Its UGA term GPA is 3.47. For HOPE, both A- grades count as 4.0, the B+ drops to 3.0, and the B in Calculus I counts as 3.5 if the course is on the STEM list. That’s 51 quality points on 14 hours, or 3.64. Added to a 3.10 HOPE GPA on 45 attempted hours, it comes to about 3.22.
What counts in your HOPE attempted hours
Attempted hours decide when your GPA is checked, and they cover more than the courses you completed:
- every course you attempted after high school graduation, at UGA or any other college, including out-of-state and foreign schools and courses UGA didn’t accept;
- courses you withdrew from, and every repeat of a course;
- hours HOPE or Zell Miller didn’t pay for;
- incompletes and other missing grades, which count as attempted hours but stay out of the GPA until a grade arrives.
AP, IB and dual enrollment courses taken in high school don’t count, and neither do credit by exam, continuing education or learning support courses after fall 2011.
Checkpoints and limits
You need a 3.00 HOPE GPA to keep HOPE and a 3.30 to keep Zell Miller. The Commission checks it at 30, 60 and 90 attempted hours and at the end of every spring term. You can lose the scholarship at a spring checkpoint but only regain it at 30, 60 or 90 hours, and after losing it at two checkpoints you can’t get it back. Payments stop at 127 attempted or paid hours. Your official HOPE GPA and hours are on GAfutures under “My College HOPE Profile”.
How UGA Admissions recalculates your high school GPA
If you’re applying to UGA as a first-year student, the GPA on your high school transcript isn’t the one Admissions uses. Schools weight grades so differently that UGA recalculates a GPA for every applicant from five core areas: math, science, English, social science and foreign language. AP Art and AP Music Theory count too.
- Each grade goes on a standard 4.0 scale using your own school’s grading scale for the year you took the course.
- Each AP or IB grade gets one extra letter grade, so an A in an AP course counts 5, unless your school already added weight to that grade.
- Honors and dual enrollment grades get no extra weight. UGA does count how many of those courses you took when it looks at the rigor of your schedule.
Count your core grades by letter below and the calculator does the rest.
Count your core-course grades from 9th grade on: English, math, science, social science and foreign language (AP Art and Music Theory count too). Plus and minus don’t matter here: a B+ and a B- are both a B.
Count a grade as AP or IB only if your school has not already added weight to it. Honors and dual enrollment grades get no extra weight, and if your transcript shows weighted and unweighted grades, use the unweighted ones.
24 A × 4 + 9 B × 3 + 3 C × 2 + 6 AP or IB × 1 = 135 points; 135 ÷ 36 grades = 3.75.
Runs in your browser; nothing is sent or stored. Method from UGA Admissions’ First-Year Criteria and Self-Reported Grades pages, checked 21 October 2026. Not affiliated with the University of Georgia: UGA Admissions recalculates your GPA from your own record.
A worked example
The admissions calculator opens with 36 core grades: 24 A, 9 B and 3 C, six of them in AP or IB courses. That’s 96 + 27 + 6 = 129 points from the letters and 6 more for the AP and IB grades. 135 ÷ 36 = 3.75, against a 3.58 without the extra points.
Self-reported grades on your application
The application asks you to list every core course from 9th to 11th grade, and any 12th-grade course you’ve finished, copying each grade the way your transcript shows it. Where both weighted and unweighted grades appear, use the unweighted one. A B+ or a B- goes in as a plain B, and a numerical grade is converted with your school’s own scale.
Pass, satisfactory and withdrawn courses stay off the list. You also report how many AP, IB, AICE and dual enrollment courses you took; honors courses don’t go in that count.
GPAs of admitted first-year students
No GPA guarantees admission. UGA sets no fixed GPA or test-score cut-off, and in recent years its admitted students earned A-level grades in more than 90% of their core courses. For the admitted first-year Class of 2030, the middle 50% had a core GPA of 4.13 to 4.40, so a quarter of the admitted students were below 4.13. Those figures go past 4.0 because of the extra point on AP and IB grades. Honors College admits ran 4.35 to 4.52.
Transfer applicants: the calculated transfer GPA
Transfer applicants get their own GPA from UGA Admissions. It uses every academic grade in a transferable course from every college you attended, including D, F and WF grades, and both grades when you repeated a course. Only courses listed with a title, course number and credit hours are reviewed.
To be considered for the Athens campus, you need to have finished high school at least 12 months before you enroll and one year of college by the start of your first term, plus either:
- 30 to 59 transferable hours and a calculated transfer GPA of 3.30 or higher, or
- 60 or more transferable hours and a 3.00 or higher.
The Griffin and Tifton campuses ask for 60 or more hours and a 3.00. These are minimums for consideration, not a promise of admission, and they can change from term to term with space.
Other UGA GPA lines worth knowing
You need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to graduate, and UGA won’t approve graduation while you hold an I that could pull your GPA below that line once it’s graded.
The Morehead Honors College takes current students through one door, first-semester entry. You can apply in your first UGA semester as a first-year student. You need at least 14 hours of A-F graded courses that term and an expected cumulative UGA GPA of at least 3.8 by its end. AP, summer and dual enrollment credit doesn’t count toward the 14 hours, and transfer students can’t use this route.
For spring 2026, more than 900 students applied for about 250 seats, and the incoming class had an average cumulative UGA GPA of 3.98.
Applying to medical school? AMCAS, the application service for MD programs, works out a separate BCPM GPA from your biology, chemistry, physics and math courses. It sorts each course by what it covers, not by the department that teaches it, and it counts every attempt at a repeated course, even grades your school leaves out of its own GPA. Academic Renewal doesn’t hide earlier grades from AMCAS.
UGA’s Pre-Professional Advising Office keeps a BCPM/science GPA calculator and the course lists each health application service uses. Enter only your biology, chemistry, physics and math courses above for a rough figure.
How this UGA GPA calculator works
This UGA GPA calculator uses UGA’s grade values and the rules in its Policy Library and Registrar pages: the excluded marks, cumulative and overall GPAs, repeats, academic standing, the Presidential Scholar and Dean’s List designations and graduation honors. Those are the undergraduate rules; graduate and law students have different ones, covered in the FAQ below.
It works out each GPA from your exact grade points and hours and only then cuts it at two decimals. The HOPE estimate follows the Georgia Student Finance Commission’s 2026–2027 rules for public colleges.
There are a few things it can’t know. It doesn’t see course numbers, so it can’t confirm the 1000-level rule for the honor lists, and it can’t tell which of your courses are on the STEM list.
Your HOPE GPA so far is weighted by the attempted hours you enter, so earlier W or I hours make that estimate a little less exact. Standing follows the university-wide rules; your school or college may be stricter, and the pre-fall-2022 rules and Academic Renewal aren’t built in.
Everything runs in your browser and the page stores nothing you enter. Calculate Your Grade isn’t connected with the University of Georgia, so Athena, your college and GAfutures have the final word.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my UGA GPA?
Work out the grade points for every letter-graded course (its hours times the grade’s value), add them, divide by those courses’ total hours, and drop every digit after the second decimal. A B+ and two A- grades in 3-hour courses give 9.9 + 11.1 + 11.1 = 32.1 grade points on 9 hours, and 32.1 ÷ 9 = 3.5666, which UGA records as 3.56, not 3.57.
Does UGA have its own GPA calculator?
Yes. Enrolled students have a GPA calculator in DegreeWorks, and UGA’s Office of Instruction sends students on academic warning or probation there to work out the GPA they need next term. UGA’s Pre-Professional Advising Office also publishes a BCPM (science) GPA calculator. This page needs no login, so you can try out grades before they’re on your record.
Does UGA use plus and minus grades?
Yes, from A- down to C-: A- is 3.70, B+ 3.30, B- 2.70, C+ 2.30 and C- 1.70. There’s no A+, D+ or D-, so the scale runs A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D and F.
Does UGA round or truncate GPA?
UGA truncates every GPA to two decimal points: a 3.4785 stays a 3.47 and never becomes a 3.48. Being cut rather than rounded can leave you a hundredth short of the Dean’s List or of the 2.00 for good standing.
Is a 70% a 2.0 GPA at UGA?
Only if your syllabus makes 70% a C. UGA publishes letter grades and their grade points, not a percentage scale, so each course’s syllabus sets the cut-offs. As a C, a 70% earns 2.00 grade points per hour; as a C-, 1.70; as a D, 1.00.
What is a 3.3 GPA at UGA?
It’s a B+ average, since a B+ earns 3.30 grade points per hour. A 3.30 is also the HOPE GPA you need at each checkpoint to keep the Zell Miller Scholarship. Transfer applicants with 30 to 59 hours need the same 3.30, as a calculated transfer GPA, to be considered for the Athens campus. It’s short of the Dean’s List, which needs a 3.50 semester, and of cum laude at 3.60 overall.
What GPA do you need for the Dean’s List at UGA?
A 3.50 semester GPA with no grade below a B and no I or U, on at least 14 earned hours numbered 1000 or above. In summer the minimum is 9 hours. A 4.00 makes you a Presidential Scholar instead.
Is a B- allowed on the Dean’s List?
No. The policy rules out any grade below a B (3.0), and a B- is worth 2.70, so one B- keeps you off the list whatever your semester GPA.
What GPA is cum laude at UGA?
Cum laude takes an overall GPA of 3.60 to 3.74, magna cum laude 3.75 to 3.89 and summa cum laude 3.90 to 4.00. These lines apply from fall 2018; before that, cum laude started at 3.50.
Is a 3.8 magna or summa cum laude at UGA?
A 3.80 overall GPA is magna cum laude, which runs from 3.75 to 3.89. Summa cum laude starts at 3.90.
If I retake a class at UGA, which grade counts?
Both of them. Each grade stays in your UGA cumulative and overall GPAs and on your transcript. You earn the credit once, and the higher grade is the one that meets degree requirements.
Do grades from another college count in my UGA GPA?
Not in your UGA cumulative GPA, which covers UGA courses only and decides your standing. They do count in your overall GPA, the one used for Latin honors.
When does UGA put you on academic probation?
Your first term ending with a UGA cumulative GPA below 2.00 brings academic warning. A second one in a row puts you on academic probation, and from then on you stay enrolled only with a 2.25 term GPA on at least 6 letter-graded hours each term.
Does UGA recalculate high school GPA, and do honors classes count extra?
Yes, UGA recalculates it from your core courses on a 4.0 scale. AP and IB grades get one extra letter grade unless your school already weighted them, but honors and dual enrollment grades get no extra weight.
What GPA do you need to get into UGA?
There’s no minimum. The middle 50% of UGA’s admitted first-year Class of 2030 had a core GPA of 4.13 to 4.40. That’s UGA’s own recalculated GPA, which adds a point for AP and IB grades, so the admissions calculator above shows where yours lands.
What GPA do I need to keep HOPE or Zell Miller?
A 3.00 HOPE GPA for HOPE and a 3.30 for Zell Miller, checked at 30, 60 and 90 attempted hours and at the end of every spring term. HOPE drops plus and minus and adds 0.5 to a B, C or D in an approved STEM course.
Do withdrawn classes count for HOPE?
Yes, as attempted hours. A W carries no grade points, so it doesn’t change your HOPE GPA, but its hours move you toward the next checkpoint and the 127-hour limit.
What’s the minimum GPA to graduate from UGA?
A cumulative GPA of at least 2.00. UGA also won’t approve graduation while an I on your record could pull you under 2.00, and a C- won’t meet a requirement that asks for a C or better.
Is my UGA GPA the same as my BCPM GPA for medical school?
No. AMCAS, which handles MD applications, works out the BCPM GPA from biology, chemistry, physics and math courses only, sorted by each course’s content. It also counts every attempt at a repeated course, even grades your school leaves out of its own GPA. Enter only those courses here for a rough figure; the AMCAS calculation is the one medical schools see.
Can UGA graduate or law students use this calculator?
It’s built on UGA’s undergraduate rules. The Graduate School uses only the last grade when you repeat a graduate course and requires a 3.0 average, with no grade below a C accepted on a program of study. UGA’s law school uses a separate scale with an A+ worth 4.3 and a D+ worth 1.3, two grades the undergraduate scale doesn’t have.
